Season Two: Episode Synopsis
Episode 1:The Mion River Battle Air Date:04/08/2012 The first episode picks up right where Season one left off, in the middle of an all out battle at Mion River, with the Servants Saber, Rider, and Lancer, working together to try and defeat Caster's summon, Cthulhu, and doing a rather poor job. Watching the battle is Gilgamesh and Tokiomi, observing from the safety of Gilgamesh's airship Vimana. Berserker will have none of that though, because hes a crazy motherfucker, and takes control of a fighter jet, and the two servants have a ridiculously awesome dogfight in the sky, completely ignoring the immortal tentacle monster in the river. With all this confusion, Tokiomi and Kariya, Berserker's master, get ready to fight. While Kiritsugu, being the sneaky bastard he is, snipes Caster's master, killing him. And all this is just half the battle! Just wait till next episode! Episode 2:Golden Shrine Air Date:04/14/2012 The great battle against Caster’s monster rages on as Gilgamesh continues to duke it out with Berserker up above. While the battle takes place Tokiomi easily defeats Kariya by setting him on fire. While this does seem like the end for Berserker's master, in the end Kirei decides to save the master who was on the brink of death. Meanwhile Rider decides to order a withdrawal for a plan of attack. By using Ionioi Hetairoi Rider is able to transport Caster into his Reality Marble and stall for time. During this time Kiritsugu decides to discuss a plan to Waver via cell phone. The plan involved Kiritsugu using a flare to send Rider a signal where to place Caster. Taking the time he also sends a message to Lancer, informing him that Saber needs her left hand to use Excalibur. In an act of chivalry Lancer takes up his Gae Buidhe and snapped it in two, releasing the curse on Saber's left hand.
With her hand restored Saber doesn’t get to celebrate as Berserker set his sight on Saber and attacks her with his fighter jet. While hunting down Saber Berserker shoots down a pursuing Gilgamesh’s poor Vimana. With Saber being shot at, Lancer finally does something and destroys the jet with his Gae Dearge. Berserk falls and continues to attempt his attack against Saber but is shot by Gilgamesh and his Noble Phantasms. With the threat of Berserker gone Kiritsugu fires the flare and Iskander returns Caster to the designated area. With her Golden Sword Saber finishes off Caster and his beast for good. Episode 3:The End of Honor Air Date:04/21/2012 With Caster defeated, the servants return to their own areas to recoup after the long trail. Lancer's Master, Archibald, takes the credit for defeating Caster, with Lancer breaking his NP to allow Saber to use Excalibur. Thus, he is given the prize from the overseer, a command seal. In return, he shoots Risei Kotomine, making sure no other maser can gain any command seals. While this is going on Maiya ambushes Sola and removes her command seal.
Skip ahead, Lancer and Saber meet up to continue their fight as knights, both enjoying it like only a true knight could. In the shadows, Kiritsugu uses Sola against Archibald, making him give up on the grail war in exchange for both his and Sola's life. Lancer is forced to commit suicide, and to Kiri's word, he does not kill Archibald or Sola, instead, Maiya does. Saber, outraged at the disrespect for the honor of knights, almost tries to leave, but Iris convinces Kiri to explain himself. He will trade his soul, to save mankind from its love of bloodshed. And that he disdains heroes that parade around honor and glory in fighting. He is a fallen hero, and will take upon the evils of the world, to save it. Episode 4:The Eighth Contract Air Date:04/28/2012 The episode begins with Kirei returning to the Kotomine church only to find his father was shot and on the ground dead. Having been informed by Kirei, Tokiomi becomes enraged at the sudden death of the supervisor. When Kirei leaves the room Gilgamesh questions Kirei why he didn’t feel any sorrow for his father’s death and implies that Kirei maybe regretted that he was unable to kill his father. Meanwhile back at the Emiya residence, Irisviel slowly begins to wake up after having passed out during the last episode. Maiya enters the shed and informs Saber and Iri that Tohsaka wished to join forces. Feeling Kirei was the most dangerous opponent for Kiritsugu, they decided to meet Tokiomi. Back with Tokiomi, he decides takes time to say goodbye to his family and entrust the Tohsaka family to Rin.
The meeting begins and in the end the two parties decided on a cease fire between the two of them so long as Tokiomi provides information about Rider and Kirei leaves the war. With the meeting over Saber rides off on her new motorcycle while Maiya and Iri return together. It is then that Iri reveals to Maiya that she is the vessel for the grail and that she will soon lose her ability to be a human.
With his orders now given, Kirei begins to pack his things to leave Fuyuki. While doing this Kirei realized that if he leaves he would lose the chance of finding the answers he desired. Gilgamesh enters the room and questions if Kirei was really willing to leave the fight. It is then that Kirei reveals that he had no intention of leaving and reveals that he inherited the command seals that his father owned. Gilgamesh then questions Kirei if its smart to have an opposing servant in the same room but Kirei merely informs Gilgamesh that Tokiomi needs all seven servants dead in order to acess the root and intends to kill Gilgamesh when the war is over. With this new revelation, a new alliance has been formed.
Time skip to later that night, Tokiomi thanks Kirei for his help and hands him a will stating Rin will inherit the Tohsaka wealth and that Kirei would become Rin’s guardian. Along with the will, an Azoth Dagger was also gifted to Kirei. With their meeting done, Tokiomi walks out of the room only for Kirei to stab him in the back with the Azoth Dagger. With Tokiomi dead, Gilgamesh and Kirei form a contract together. Episode 5:Distant Memories Air Date:05/05/2012 The anime decides to take a pause and show us the tragic childhood of Kiritsugu. The anime shows us a young Kiritsugu who peacefully lived on a small island. We are introduced Kiritsugu’s father Norikata and his assistant, a town’s girl named Shirley. Though not a magus herself Shirley assists Norikata with his research in order to prevent the aging process.
Shirley and Kiritsugu are very close to each other. Wishing to see Kiritsugu change the world, she told him that she will stay by his side and wait until he was old enough to use his father’s research and change the world. Unfortunately the good times end there as the next day Norikata tells his son to stay inside. As dawn sets Kiritsugu decides to head to town and search for Shirley. In the end he soon comes across a monster like version of Shirley that had drank one of Norikata’s experiments to show that his research could change the world. She begs Kiritsugu to kill her but Kiritsugu flees in fear to the nearest church.
At the church he is given some protection for a bit but soon Kiritsugu realizes that everybody had become like Shirley. Fleeing from these monsters like humans, Kiritsugu is saved by a blue haired woman named Natalia. She explains that the islanders have become Dead Apostles/Vampires. She also explains that two groups have entered the island: the Church executors, a group that will do anything to kill those that have turned away from the ways of god, and the mage’s association, a group who will do anything to erase any magical anomalies from the eyes of the common people (with special cameo of Cornelius Alba).
Natalia informs Kiritsugu that she is a freelancer who is after a man that is preforming research on Dead Apostles. Realizing that she is referring to his father he agrees to help her get pass the barrier that he set up. Walking up to his father, Kiritsugu questions him about Shirley. When it became apparent that Norikata would continue his research and cause such unfortunate events to happen again, Kiritsugu stabs his father then shoot him till he is dead. Joined by Natalia, the two leave the burning island.
Episode 6:Where Justice is Found Air Date:05/12/2012 In this episode Kiritsugu begins to narrate about his life living with the freelancer Natalia and reveals how Kiritsugu receives his origin bullets. The anime shows Kiritsugu’s life as a child who is practicing to become a freelancer just like Natalia and a teen that works alongside Natalia and kills criminals. During his teenage life he realizes that tragedies such as the one that hit his island are normal occurrences.
The anime soon shift over to Natalia who has gone on a mission to kill a man named Od Volsack, a magus that utilizes bee familiars to turn people to ghouls. While Kiritsugu kills off Volsack’s accomplices, Natalia sneaks onto the plane Volsack is on and kills him. Taking her chance to kill Volsack’s bee familiars in the back room, bees come out of Volsack’s dead body and turn all the passengers into ghouls. Managing to escape the ghouls and bees, Natalia makes it to the control room and begins to pilot the plane.
Opening up a communication line with Kiritsugu, the two begin to have an emotional conversation where Natalia decides to quit her job and be a mother to Kiritsugu. With the plane close to landing Kiritsugu acknowledges Natalia as his mother and shoots the plane down with a missile. Revealing that many people would have died if Natalia landed, Kiritsugu begins to break down and cry at the loss of Natalia. Memories of Shirley return causing Kiritsugu to look out at the sun with determination.
Episode 7:Return of the Assassin Air Date:05/19/2012 The anime returns back to the present day and starts off with Kiritsugu visiting the weakened Irisviel. Overjoyed that Kiritsugu came to visit her in her last moments, she hands Kiristugu Avalon, Saber’s lost sheath that was used to keep Irisviel safe with its healing properties. Wishing he could have shown her much more places, Irisviel tells Kiritsugu show their daughter instead. With a farewell Kiritsugu walks out and Maiya informs him that he now looks like his old self.
Meanwhile back at the Matou residence, Kariya has a nightmare about Berserker causing him to awake and notice he is in the worm storage. Zouken approaches Kariya and decides to give Kariya a trump card. Having a worm enter Kariya’s body, Zouken informs that this worm is one that had been feeding off Sakura’s life for a year.
Waver and Rider return back to the place Rider was summoned. Now in spirit form, Rider tries his best to conserve prana due to over usage of his Noble Phantasm. Waver camps out in order to gain prana and the two begin to converse. In the end Rider brings up that he doesn’t wish for Waver to fight for a meaningless goal and questions if the Holy Grail actually exists.
Kiritsugu takes his chance to attack the Tohsaka residence while Saber is in charge of attacking Rider at the Mackenzie residence. While Kiritsugu infiltrates the Tohsaka manor he realizes something is wrong and soon figures out Tokiomi is dead. While this is going on Irisviel and Maiya begin to converse. Maiya begins to reveal her past, that she was a solider ever since she was a mere child and that Kiritsugu found her and took her in.
While the two continues their conversation Rider suddenly breaks into the shed. Maiya immediately attempts to protect Irisviel and calls Kiritsugu on her phone. Receiving the call, Kiritsugu uses one of his command spells and commands Saber to return to the shed. Answering the command spell’s order she returns to witness a dying Maiya and Rider leaving with Irisviel. Hopping on her motorcycle she pursues Rider. Kiritsugu returns to the dying Maiya. She stops him from crying and Kiritsugu relieves her from her duty. With that she dies.
Episode 8:Knight on Two Wheels Air Date:05/26/2012 Saber chases after rider in her Motorcycle as he runs off through the city. Damn can Saber rider, seriously. I know she has the riding skill, but man. Anyway, Saber loses sight of Rider and thinks all is lost, until she catches sight of him again, now he is riding his chariot though. Rider and Waver catch sight of Saber, but don't seem to know why she is following them, and neither do they have Iris. Rider, excited to have Saber come to him, decides to challenge her to a race, seeing as how she can also ride.
Saber's Motorcycle is no match for Rider though, and is about ready to break down. Unable to lose, seeing as how she believes him to have Iris, Saber enchants the motorcycle with her Invisible Air Noble Phantasm, making it super bad ass, and increasing its speed with the wind enhancement. Not wanting to be outdone so easily, Rider decides to give Saber a bit of a challenge, and uses the chariot spikes on the wheels to cause a little debris for Saber to dodge. Once again, Saber shows her amazing skills, maneuvering effortlessly through the obstacles. Finally, Saber jumps a piece of rock, closing the gap between her and Rider, and they clash. Rider challanges Saber's Excalibur with his chariot, and loses in his gamble to strike her before she can unleash it. Saber lets them go, and continues her search for Iris
The scene changes, and we see the now "fake" rider holding Iris, next to Kotomine and Kariya. Kariya used a command seal to change Berserker's appearance and commanded him to bring Iris to him. Kotomine tells Kariya he'll give him the grail if he helps him, and replenishes his lost command seal. He then tells Kariya to come by the church tonight to comfort Tokiomi. When he arrives, he finds Tokiomi already dead, and Aoi arrives to find Kariya over the dead Tokiomi's body. She yells at Kariya, and he snaps, killing her with his own hands. Then we see Gilgamesh and Kotomine watching over the "performance".
Episode 9:All the Evil in the World Air Date:06/02/2012 Waver arrives back home after Rider and Saber fought. The old man he is staying with, who he is pretending to be his grandchild too, calls him to the roof, and they watch the sunrise. The old man tells Waver he doesn't believe he's his grandchild, but he isn't mad. Him and his wife are happy to have Waver there, and he offers Waver a place to stay. Waver is moved, but can't agree, for he still has the grail war.
Kirei talks with Iris about Kiri, and Iris tells Kotomine that he can never understand Emiya. She then tells him what Kiri wants to wish for and Kirei can't even begin to understand why. He then decides there is no more use for Iris to stay alive and kills her, though, it's more out of hidden anger and frustration.
As Waver and Rider are home, flares shoot up from the middle of the city claiming "The Grail has been won". And obvious challenge, Rider agrees to head out, and Waver, thinking back to his talk with the old man, uses all his command seals to command Rider to win the Grail, absolving himself as his Master. Rider picks Waver up, and sets him on his horse, telling him he is still his friend, even if he isn't his master, and tells him he has to see his commands through.
We are then taken to a series of dark dreams/visions with Iris, essentially showing her inside the grail. The dark, evil tone, giving away the corruption of the grail. Episode 10:The Sea at the End of the World Air Date:06/09/2012 Rider and Waver ride off to meet their opponent only to encounter the golden archer on the big bridge. Meanwhile Saber enters an underground parking lot to meet an enemy she assumes kidnapped the missing Irisviel. Archer and Rider begin to have a friendly conversation as they sip on wine. Once done the two kings part ways and prepare to face each other in combat. Using his Noble Phantasm Ionioi Hetairoi, Rider summons forth his army and charges at the golden king.
While this is going on Saber enters the parking lot only to be attacked by the mad Berserker who is wielding a rifle gun. Saber manages to destroy the rifle only for Berserker to pull out a machine gun and fire at Saber. Saber dodges the bullets and begins to use a car as a shield. Pushing the car forward Saber strikes through the car and hits Berserker’s helmet. Unable to shatter the helmet with the blow she attempts to strike again only for Berserker to catch her blade as she swings it down. Jumping back Saber realizes that only the knights that served her could only know the size of her hidden sword. Using the code of the knight she demands Berserker to tell her his name. Replying to her demand the black mist around Beserker’s body begins to fade and a demonic sword appears in his hand. Saber stares in fear as Beserker’s helmet shatters and reveals that he is none other than her dear friend Sir Lancelot. Recalling Rider criticizing her kingship, Saber tearfully asks Lancelot if her kingship led to his madness. The berserk knight does not heed her words and wildly slashes at her.
Returning back to the fight between Rider and Gilgamesh, Rider and his army charge straight at Gilgamesh. Praising their efforts, Gilgamesh brings out his most powerful Noble Phantasm named Ea. With it he unleashes a powerful attack named Enuma Elish and decimates Rider’s army and Ionioi Hetairoi itself. With his army and reality marble gone Rider looks to Waver and asks if he wishes to be his retainer. Tearfully Waver accepts Rider as his king. Removing Waver from his horse, Rider instructs Waver to live on and pass down the tale of Iskander.
With that he rides straight at Gilgamesh. Rider rides through a rain of Noble Phantasms and starts to run through them once his horse is shot down. Reaching Gilgamesh, he slashed at the king only to be bound by Gilgamesh’s divine chains. Gilgamesh’s stabs Rider with Ea and Rider dies seeing his precious Oceanus in his dreams. The fight begins with Kirei using command seals to increase his strength while Kiritsugu uses his assortment of gun. When Kiritsugu's origin bullets hit Kirei's black keys and did not effect Kotomine, Kiritsugu begins to question why and starts to rely on his time manipulation to battle Kirei. Kirei notices his increase in speed and adjusts himself to the spped. With his Baji Quan style of fighting Kirei immediately rushes forward and punches Kiritsugu right into the chest, causing the assassin to crash into the wall.
Meanwhile while the two are fighting Beserker begins to beat down on an emotionally hurt Saber. Saber keeps on getting brutally beaten but eventually she gains her resolve back. Kariya is shown to pass out and at that moment Saber took her chance to stab Beserker. Announcing her resolve to claim the grain, Beserker smirks as he dies. Back at the City Hall, Irisviel's body suddenly burns and turns into the holy grail. Kirei believe Kiritsugu to be dead due to the blow he deal but Kiritsugu gets up and continues to fight. It is revealed that Avalon was able to heal his wound. Using his origin bullet He shoots Kirei, only for Kirei to sacrifice his arm to redirect the bullet away. Quadrupling his speed Kiritsugu manages to gain enough distance from Kirei and prepares to shoot Kirei, Kirei throughs four black keys at Kiritsugu and charges forward at Kiritsugu. With the black keeys curving to hit Kiritsugu from the side and Kiritsugu pointing at Kirei it all comes down to what hit first. However the showdown is interupted when black mud spilling from the holy grail comes crashing down from the second floor and swallows the two.

Kirei questions why he didn't accept the grail and begs Kiritsugu not to destroy the grail but, Kiritsugu shoots Kirei and Kirei falls to the ground dead. Meanwhile up on the second floor we see Saber enter the room only for Gilgamesh to block her path and propose marriage. Enraged Saber tried to attack Gilgamesh, but he casually shoots her down with his Noble Phantasm. Suddenly Kiritsugu walks in uses two command seals to command Saber to destroy the Holy Grail with Excalibur. Saber screams in displeasure as she attacks the Holy Grail. From this portal a flood of corrupted mud falls and begins to destroy a section of the city. Saber fades away while Gilgamesh is drenched in the mud. Kiritsugu desperatly tries to help somebody but fails as the mud destroys the city.
Meanwhile Kirei soon awakes, having found out that he has been revived. He notices a nude Gilgamesh who claims that the mud has given him a physical body and through their connection Kirei was able to be revived. Gilgamesh also notes that the city's destruction was a cause of Kirei's wish. Realizing his true nature, Kirei laughs as he watches what he finds pleasure. As the duo prepares to leave Kirei notices a broken minded Kiritsugu and leaves the man.
When all hope seems lost Kiritsugu soon finds a survivor of the destruction, a small boy. With tears he thanks the boy for staying alive and allowing him to save somebody. The anime soon takes a timeskip a few days later where we see Waver, who has decided to stay at the Mackenzie house for a while before he starts his own adventure. On the night of the full moon Kiritsugu tells Shirou about his ideals. Inspired, Shirou tells Kiritsugu that he will fulfuil his ideals and become a hero of justice. With a pleased look Kiritsugu dies from the curse of the grail, ending the story
Irisviel starts the very first "Dojo" tradition with the idea of offering consultation to those that may need her help. Along the way, she picked up "T-chan", who apparently has amnesia after training in the mountains and adopts her as "Student 0". Together they summarize the Holy Grail War!
Iri reveals herself to be Magical Ace Attorney Irisviel Eiznbern, Defender of Justice! Alright, not really. What actually happens, Student 0 is curious about magic, and Iri explains the history of Magi, and what they believe and how they act. She also gives some tips to Student 0, the newest Master, on how to fight smart in the Grail War.
Iri and T-chan get their first client! Assassin, and they help him realize hes not just some fail piece of Servant trash, even though his master doesn't care about him, and all Assassin ever does is spy, and get murdered continuously. He leaves them refreshed, somehow, off to prove he is the King of Assassins! Once the trash Assassin is gone, Iri and T-chan breakdown the reason the war has rules, and why the Church, who usually hate Magi, agree to oversee the Grail War every 60 years.
